Testimonials

Literacy influences well-being and is closely linked to nearly all the major determinants of good health identified by Health Canada. I champion, as should others, the emphasis on reading to children in the First 1000 Days of Life to ensure Canada's cultural and economic prosperity.

“Thank you so much for all that minibiblioplus does for our daycare! On top of providing us with numerous books that the children adore and take home with them daily, the weekly volunteer that comes and reads to the children reinforces their love for storytelling. Your organization is making a difference in the lives of the young children that frequent our daycare by exposing them to a world of books.”

“Thank you for the training. It was really great. I have practiced the skills taught already ;). I feel much more confident when reading stories to the children I work with. One simple tip I learned, holding the book on the right side, made storytelling flow more easily. Asking questions kept the children engaged, and I could see their little brains working as they looked at the images. The workshop reminded me that reading isn’t about finishing the story, but about creating a moment of connection. It was so rewarding to hear the children excitedly retell the story to their parents afterward. For families, I think seeing that reading together can simply mean laughing at the pictures and enjoying the moment will help make storytime feel less like a task and more like a joy.”

As a homeschooling family in the Montérégie East area, having consistent access to a variety of high-quality English children’s books is often a challenge. MEPEC’s partnership with Minibiblio Plus has given us access to a wonderful selection of children’s books. Each week, I am able to find books for all of my children—from beautiful tactile board books for my youngest to early readers for my oldest. What we love most is that our children have direct access to the books. They can touch them, flip through the pages, and choose the ones that catch their attention, which is an important part of the joy of reading. My family and I are truly grateful to MEPEC and Minibiblio Plus for this initiative. It has been an amazing addition to our children’s education.
