Nutrition Month
Did you know that March is National Nutrition Month? The month is celebrated throughout Canada to draw attention to the importance of making informed food choices and developing healthy eating habits. Food is nourishment, but it’s so much more. Food unites us. We hope these books get your kids talking and thinking about making healthy eating habits.

Parent Workshop
We had a great time hosting a parent workshop for the families of Association des Parents. As part of our literacy activities, this workshop empowers parents to integrate reading at home and in their children’s lives from day one (and even before)!
Thank you Association Cigogne for allowing us the opportunity to empower parents to integrate early literacy at home and in their children’s lives.

Volunteer of the month – March 2022
Avery Ward
” I am so honoured to be chosen as volunteer of the month but even more valuable than this recognition is the time I spend each week reading with the children. When I was little, I was always one of those kids who would stay up after my bedtime with a flashlight under my covers trying to get in a few more pages before my mom forced me to go sleep. This love of reading from a young age endowed me with countless skills for the rest of my life! During my time as a volunteer at I hope to pass my love of reading and all the great lessons that come with it on to a younger generation. And I’m happy to report that the children I see each week are brighter and more enthusiastic about reading than I could ever hope for! “

Book of the Month-February
Violet by Tania Duprey Stehlik
Violet’s mother is red, and her father is blue so why isn’t she red or blue? Why is she violet? Upset and confused, Violet goes to her mother. Using paints, her mother shows her that when you combine red and blue, you get violet! Like many people in the world, Violet is a beautiful mix of colors. A wonderfully original story about acceptance and the beauty of being different. Click on the photo to discover activities to compliment your reading!
