Presenting our book for the month of December, Stella, Queen of the Snow by Marie-Louise Gay. A world-renowned author and illustrator of children’s books, her books have been translated into more than 15 languages and are loved by children all over the world. Marie-Louise lives in Montreal. Her book, Stella, Queen of Snow, is about a girl named Stella and her younger brother, Sam, exploring a familiar landscape transformed by heavy snowfall. It is Sam’s very first snowstorm, and he has lots of questions. Stella uses her creativity and ingenuity to answer all of them. Click on the photo for creative activities to complement your reading.
Volunteer of the month – December 2021
Daniel Savulescu
“For my first volunteering experience as a student, I eagerly accepted to join because I find that it is never too early to introduce books into the life of a child. Giving toddlers the pleasure of being able to enjoy stories reminds me of the joy I felt when my parents read to me. Books have allowed me to stimulate my imagination and arouse my curiosity, to escape and to immerse myself in a world of fantasy. This has been such a rewarding experience which has allowed me to be not only a source of information for children’s literacy and to promote the love of reading but also a source of joy, pleasure, and comfort.”

A Poppy is to Remember by Heather Patterson
Presenting our book for the month for November, “A Poppy is to Remember” by Heather Patterson. A former elementary school teacher and children’s book editor, Heather is a fiercely proud Canadian. How did the bright red poppy that we all wear in November become Canada’s symbol of honoring those who fought for our freedom on Remembrance Day? This book tells our little ones all about it.
